Mineral vs. Chemical Sunscreen

The sunscreen we grew up slathering onto our skin, like Coppertone and Banana Boat, have been found to contain nasty chemicals such as oxybenzone, octinoxate and butylparaben. These ingredients have been discovered in over 3,000 types of coral and have been linked to the increased bleaching effect since 1979. According to the Australian Institute of Marine Science, the last 20 years have seen multiple instances of mass coral bleaching across the Great Barrier Reef, the largest mass colony of coral spreading over 1,400 miles.
